Please add a feature to capture a runners nationality (you capture residency but that isn’t enough). What is the case for this you may ask - here is a story that illustrates it.
I finished Cocodona in 2025 (I am British, female and I assumed that I wasn’t the first British female who had completed it). However, I then learnt that the race may have thought a woman who completed it in 2026 was the first British female - so I contacted the race and they did communicate with her AND I told my friend to tell the woman (Jenna) who might now think that she was the 1st, that she wasn’t….by inferrence, it suggested I was the first but I just thought so what, onwards…and who cares.
Well 2 weeks later, I assume her local paper in the UK picks up her story and writes that Jenna Franklin is the first British female finisher and I am thinking, wow what happened accuracy. I ask ChatGPT who is the first female finisher and they return her name. I ask chat to cross check ITRA and then it corrects itself and says it’s me, so I correct the newpaper…
I am emailing with the race and they now confirm that not only was Jenna NOT the first British female, neither am I.
ALL of this would have been mitigtated by having nationality and residence in your runner data and in the list of entrants. Erika at Aravaipa wouldn’t have misunderstood right at the beginning, Jenna could have checked for herself and if the newspaper cared about facts, they could have fact checked.
In this global world there are so many of us who reside in other countries but our nationality is different. Additionally this is good metadata to capture.
