Custom Sort Volunteer Tasks

I need to be able to sort volunteer tasks chronologically. Sometimes I go back and create a task for earlier in the race weekend, but it automatically populates to the very bottom of the task list, where it may be overlooked.

You can already do this. Just go to the Volunteer sign-up page (while logged in as the race admin) and click the green up or down arrows next to the task(s) you want to reorder. You can put them in any order you like
